Redbank Valley Trails Association and Allegheny Valley Land Trust celebrated a Trail Dedication Ceremony in New Bethlehem on Saturday, June 1st, 2013 at 10 AM to celebrate National Trails Day and the dedication of the trail near New Bethlehem. There were several opportunities to enjoy the trail after the ceremony which included a prayer of dedication, ribbon cutting, fun musical selections and a talk on the health benefits of walking.
The 2nd annual Ride the Redbank II, a 17-mile trail ride, was also scheduled for June 1st, 2013, starting at 9 AM from Brookville through to Hawthorn.
Redbank Valley Trails Association participated in the Armstrong County Community Foundation’s Day of Giving on May 9th, 2013 and May 8, 2014 to make your donations go farther. Donations of between $20 and $5,000 made payable to ACCF, with RVTA designated in the memo line of your check, were matched on a percentage basis by ACCF from their match fund and were fully matched by Allegheny Valley Land Trust. For more information visit www.ArmstrongGives.org. Thank you to all who made the Day of Giving a huge success for us! We plan to participate in the 5th Annual Day of Giving on May 14, 2015 and also welcome contributions throughout the year.
EXCITING NEWS! Redbank Valley Trails is now considered part of a mega trail and a new initiative to connect Pittsburgh through Brookville to Ridgway in the heart of the PA Wilds. This will make our 51-mile trail part of a much larger network to the east and will connect to the north-south Erie to Pittsburgh and Great Allegheny Passage Mega-trails, opening recreational and economic opportunities for the entire region.
